A couple of follow-up items from class today:
1. Photoshop: Remember that there are staffed drop-in hours at the DML, so make use of their help on your project. You can find the calendar on the DML homepage here: http://www.uwb.edu/learningtech/spaces/dml121 (For support after hours you can also go to the IT help desk in the Lib). The full assignment description will be posted on the “Assignments” page shortly.
2. Diigo: We have most of the class signed up for the Americal Idol(s) group on Diigo. If you have not joined already, please sign up for Diigo, then go to the group page (http://groups.diigo.com/group/american-idols/) and request to be added to the group. Once you have your account set up and have successfully joined the American Idol(s) group, download the Diigo toolbar plugin and start practicing highlighting and posting sticky notes to the American Idol(s) Diigo group on the course website to get the hang of it (you will need to toolbar plugin installed on the browser you are using to be able to see other people’s comments on the reading). Our first assignment with Diigo will be due before class next Tuesday. You will use Diigo only for those readings marked with the “(Social reading with Diigo)” suffix.
3. Twitter: Most of us succeeded in signing up for Twitter and tweeting at least once using the class twitter tag: #ameridols. If you have not done so yet, please sign up for twitter (you do not have to use your real name if you do not want to) and post something that includes the #ameridols topic hash-tag. This is the discussion board for the class. If you want to share an interesting resource related to the course, say something to the class, or ask a question of your fellow students, this is where you can do it! You can track the discussion here: http://twitter.com/#!/search/%23ameridols
If you have questions about Diigo or Twitter, please email me (atoft_AT_uw.edu) and I will see if I can help you with your problem. Once you have signed up for both Diigo and Twitter, please email me a message that includes your full name, and the handle (name) that you are using for Twitter and Diigo. For instance: my name is Amoshaun Toft; my Twitter handle is @amoshaun; and my Diigo handle is Amoshaun Toft.
